1½ cups all purpose flour (sifted)
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1½ cups uncooked quick rolled oats
1½ cup packed brown sugar
1 cup melted butter. Mix well.
Press ½ of crumb mixture into 12x8x2 pan.
Spread date filling. Cover with remaining crumb mixture.
Bake at 350 °F for 30 minute. Cool in pan. Cut into squares.
Mix 1 lb dates with 1 cup water.
Simmer until soft.
Mash.
Add ½ cup sugar (not necessary) and juice of ½ lemon.
